Ages 3-6
**6-week session: TUESDAY LAB
In this 6-week class, children will explore basic chemistry and chemical reactions. It involves many of the topics and experiments that you'd love to do with your kids but don't ever have the time or energy to prepare!
Week 1: Bubble science
Big idea: What makes bubbles? Can you change their shape or size?
Week 2: Color reactions
Big idea: Colors can mix, move, and react with each other.
Week 3: Sticky, slimy, stretchy.
Big idea: Some materials stretch, stick, or drip.
Week 4: Cold chemistry.
Big idea: Cold things can melt, stick together, or change shape.
Week 5: Magnetic madness
Big idea: Some objects can move without touching.
Week 6: Sweet science
Big idea: Cooking is chemistry.
The class is led by an experienced former elementary school teacher who has a background in teaching science and leading STEM camps, as well as years of experience leading preschool small groups.
Each session includes a sensory experience, gross motor games, a read-aloud, and a science experiment or topic-related craft.
Classes will take place at Bowling Green Christian Church, located at 1912 Smallhouse Road.
Due to the nature of our class & the young age of our learners, a caregiver will need to accompany students. All materials are provided. Classes are active and can involve messy play, so please bring your child in play clothes.

**6-week session: Thursday LAB
In this 6-week class, children will explore the world around them and learn more how objects and elements interact with one another. This lab also includes two seasonal classes to help us celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving together.
Week 1: Light and shadows
Big idea: Light creates shadows, reflections, and colors.
Week 2: Building and engineering
Big idea: Structures need balance and stability.
Week 3: Spooky science
Big idea: We can combine substances to create new solutions.
Week 4: Sink or float?
Big idea: Some things float, some sink, and we can test our ideas.
Week 5: Forces in motion
Big idea: Objects move by pushes, pulls, ramps, and rolling.
Week 6: Thanksgiving kitchen lab
Big idea: Mixing and heating change food.

Did you know that bats are the only flying mammal on Earth? Or that over 300 species of fruit rely on bats for pollination? In this 1.5 hour class, students will learn everything they ever wanted to know about these winged creatures.
During class, students will:
-explore a bat cave sensory bin
-listen to the beloved classic Stellaluna while eating a bat-friendly snack
-experiment with echolocation
-catch fresh 'insects' to eat
-create their own hanging bat
Class will take place at Bowling Green Christian Church, located at 1912 Smallhouse Road.

Heading to Jackson's Orchard or Just Piddlin' this fall? Nothing beats the hands-on learning that these experiences provide-- but what if you could provide your child with background information that makes their visit even more meaningful?
During this 1.5 hour class, students will learn more about the plants, people, and machines involved in fall harvest.
During class, students will:
-explore a harvest sensory bin
-listen to a read-aloud
-harvest, sort, count, and graph crops to calculate how much their farm grew
-compete in a harvest relay riding their own 'tractor'//discuss what machines are involved in harvesting the food we eat
-paint their own field of sunflowers
Class will take place at Bowling Green Christian Church, located at 1912 Smallhouse Road.

In this three-hour class, students will work in teams to compete in the Autumn Science Olympics!
At the start of class, each team will choose their own name and design a unique team flag. Teams will then compete in a variety of friendly competitions that challenge their engineering skills and touch on a variety of science topics.
Our Olympic events include:
🎃 Candy Corn Boats (buoyancy and engineering)
🎃 Candy Pumpkin Catapult (forces and motion)
🎃 Acorn Balance Relay (balance and motion)
🎃 Apple Tower Challenge (engineering and balance)
🎃 Pumpkin Seed Races (friction)
🎃 Pumpkin Painting (art and creativity)
We'll wrap up class with an awards ceremony that celebrates the winning team and reviews everything we learned throughout the morning.
Feel free to sign up with friends and create your own team, or come ready to join a group of fellow science-lovers!
Class will take place at Bowling Green Christian Church, located at 1912 Smallhouse Road.
*Because this is a 3-hour class, your child is encouraged to bring a snack and water bottle. We'll take a snack break halfway through our events.
